Live contest among classrooms – Italy’s national teacher training course on Digital Citizenship
On 20 May 2025, a live contest on digital citizenship was held as part of Italy’s national teacher training course on Digital Citizenship organised within the framework of the European Year of Digital Citizenship Education 2025. During the contest, the trainers of EFT (Territorial Training Teachers) had the opportunity to virtually “enter” the classrooms of the educators who participated in the national training course and become acquainted with the most impactful student projects in the three age categories: Kids, Junior and Teens.
Many materials were developed by the classrooms across the country including visuals, drawings and videos. Educators were able to develop activities cards also making reference to Council of Europe’s materials and resources including the DigiNauts video series and the Activity Book which were used, for example, as a tool to start a conversation about consumer awareness and sustainability among other topics.
The online national training course was developed by EFT (Territorial Training Teachers) in cooperation with the National Hub at the Italian Ministry of Education and Merit and the DCE Promoter, Ms Giuseppina Russo. It aimed at equipping teachers with the competences to successfully integrate digital citizenship education into the school curriculum by getting acquainted with the Council of Europe’s concept of digital citizenship education.
